Life-long employment is no longer a part of Japanese culture, sadly.
It's a worldwide trend, more and more workers work on temporally contract handled by job agencies(to avoid work benefit and job security).
Toyota may not be one of those companies but who knows.

The wave of neo-liberalism is penetrating everywhere.
Economy can't be sustained in this way.

Why Toyotas are better? It's simple. They have a higher IQ population while America doesn't. Even China makes better phones than anyone else. You gotta wonder why.

I work at a Chevy dealership and I recently just bought a 2004 Tacoma 3.4 Double Cab that came in on trade. I absolutely love it. A few months later I met the original owner and I asked him why he decided to get rid of his truck, and replied with “I had it for 15 damn years, it was time for a change” and I thought damn that’s crazy

Toyota's a a bit outdated, but they're very simple(in a good way). But oh my god, the reliability is amazing! My dad treats his t100 like garbage, but it has managed to go 330000 miles and still counting. Only had to replace a spark plugs, regular oil changes, transmission fluid and the radiator hose(the radiator hose actually wasn't the car itself, my dad some how managed to cut it with something)(don't ask me how, I really don't know, myself😂) But my god, they need to update the 5.7L v8, 4.0L v6, and the 3.5L by. Their fuel economy is disgusting, but i have to hand it to them, they are super reliable.

I have taken your advice.. as a basic run about i got a V6 camry 2003 sportivo. ( i have three car projects like my 300zx turbo) (a handfull)
The toyota has done 270000km. Regularly serviced for 16 years.
Starts and runs like a new one. No squeaks, rattles, starts perfectly and runs perfectly. Brakes perfect. I cant believe it. 1900$ dollars (nz)
So, if it blows up , which i doubt it, its amazing for the price of a flash lawn mower!!
Heater and a/c perfect, and uses so little petrol. Parts cheap. Like you said cheaper cars have a few bruises, but all the depreciation gone.
Ive always had big australian fords but im happy to be in my camry now. Good run a bout, cheap parts, easy to fix.

I work at a Toyota plant that makes v4 and v6 engines for various Toyota’s and Lexuses. After safety, quality is the #1 thing they push. You have incentives everyday to have the best quality. We’re making sure things are the right measurement using microns, so there isn’t much room for things to mess up. Other than the safety and quality, order and cleanliness are huge things in the plant. Everything has a place with a label, and you’re cleaning your area 4-5 times a day. I would eat off the floor there. And the pay is extremely competitive with any job anywhere where I live. Best place I’ve ever worked, only place I’ll ever work.

When you're ranting about Mercedes or European cars at all, are you speaking solely about America? I am leaning towards Lexuses in stead of Mercs after watching your videos.
Here, in Europe, Mercedes is a synonym for luxury and reliability, so that's why I was wondering.

You'll often see Americans directly negotiating with other Americans, while Japanese businessmen direct from behind the scenes, for both sides. They do this because saying 'no' directly is very difficult in Japanese culture, whereas Americans don't have to worry about 'face,' at least in this context.

I am glad Toyota and Honda make "reliable cars" at the moment... the only thing I would say with some merit behind it is that there is some difference in consumer behaviors between the two countries which creates a difference response by the markets.

It broke in six months, then I sold it within 13 months. I then bought a 2001 Tundra sold it to my mom to get the double cab model 5 years larter. Our family still owns both trucks. With scheduled maintenance and a fix here and there for backing into stuff to replace a bent bumper or two, both trucks drive great with no sign of problems. I only wish they still made Tundras in that 1st gen size. Best truck i've ever owned out of 2 Dodges, 3 Fords, and 3 Chevy's.

South Korea is innovative and making awesome cars, soon China will follow, as will India and Vietnam, but Japan has done it the longest Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Mazda, Nissan, Isuzu, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Mitsubishi, and KIA, Hyundai, Etc. They all make good long lasting easy to work on stuff including Kawasaki and Yamaha who make Engines for all sorts of small vehicles around the world.

Talk about trading a ticking time bomb for a Swiss watch. People around me are dismayed though. "But the Cruze was so much newer!".
