Can i ask a question what about if i was looking to choose between the mazda 6 atenza first gen not the mps model and the subaru legacy b4 forth gen or the subaru impreza would mazda still be a better choice?

@MFHRaptor Mazda is far better than the contemporary Nissan's. Mazda make good quality cars and have for some time, especially since SkyActive. I rank Mazda the 3rd best Japanese car company after Toyota (includes Lexus) and Honda.

But I'm wondering about the Subaru Baja 03-06. How do you rate these vehicles Scotty?

I'm sure Mazda doesn't use Jatco anymore. I've had two Mazda 2 company cars, both did roughly 150,000 km before the lease was up for renewal. No issues what so ever with them, a great little car. Mazda is very popular in Australia, it's in the top 3 car brands (biggest market per capita for Mazda) and I've never heard a bad word said about them at all. Well apart from this video. I'd rank them the 3rd best Japanese car brand, so Toyota (includes Lexus), Honda and Mazda.

Scotty! I am thinking of getting one of my boyhood dream cars, the Subaru Impreza WRX/STI or Mitsubishi Evo.

Both will be used 2012/2014 models. The last Evo was Evo 10 with the DCT gearbox, and rival STI is the Version 10 using a CVT type gearbox.

Due to a football injury I’ll be unable to drive a stick, so between the two what’s your tips & recommendations?

I've owned Honda, Nissan, Toyota, and Mazda cars over the years and when I was younger I considered Honda to be the top brand but over the years I have started to shift my preference towards Mazda, it's a brand that you really don't think about but once you drive one, you finally realize the quality and driver-friendly nature it has, they are simply the best in terms of driving ergonomics, very comfortable to drive yet exciting at the same time due to its sporty nature. The only nitpick I have is that Mazda does not have a luxury division, so the one I'm currently driving is likely my last Mazda because I'm ready to step it up to the luxury tier, but I think Mazda is a brand that any person should experience while young, it's simply a very satisfying ride for the price.

I feel like subaru fell on its head back in 2012 and continues to get stupider. having owned 2 its going to be a hard sell for a 3rd. alot of stuff changed in 2012, motors, cvt crap electric steering. and production was changed from Japan to America. right now you can't buy a manual or a turbo forester, but you can get a riced out expensive trim called Sport that someone is going to buy without doing research.

Had the stupid sub outback sucks engine overheated timing belt broke 2 times in 10k miles. Sub Mechanic shop made a mess. Back to cheap old dodge vans 3.3l and 3.8l tough as iron.
Reports about sub showed even the first coolant change caused overheating do to trapped air in coolant. So why didnt sub recall millions of engines? Then 2003 they remade the 2.2. Stupid

I have a 2012 Mazda 3 iSport with 69K miles on it and a 2016 Mazda Cx-5 Sport MT with 83K miles... neither has had a issue, i bought them both brand new.. and as far as I've seen since they've become more independent they make great lil cars that maneuver better than most and have enough pep & efficiency to rival any car of the same class/price point.

                        but whats real-world ownership matter?

This is one of the few things I'll have to disagree on scotty. As a tow truck driver I hardly ever tow Subaru. I'm talking 2 or 3 a year compared to any other brand. I get more Ferrari and exotics than Subaru. However I will say Subaru does need to make the awd a bit more optional.

Every Subaru owner I’ve talked to loves them - no major problems. Many buy them at 100,000 miles and not uncommon to reach 300,000 miles.

Anything broken during that time IS a bad sign but it doesn't give you a useful indication of what the car will be like when it's ten years old. I drive a car that has a certain amount of squeak, rattle, and vibration sounds... but that's part of the "price" I pay to drive an affordable car that has well over 100k miles

Scotty keeps saying the boxer engine is no good, but for me they are unique, more powerful and since they are horizontal, you naturally get better handling. Why else would Ferrari and Porsche use them? Personally for me, I prefer the older Suburu's. Great cars!
