Brother, you have no idea just how lucky you are to have found such a low mileage gem. The FJs where I live would take serious dollars to rebuild at this point. But what you say does make for a good fantasy. We all hope Toyota will mass produce the FJ again, but it's not likely. Enjoy.

Poorly designed vehicle ,poor visibility, too many blind spots . Mechanically it is very sound . I have owned two toyota trucks . I wish there was an aftermarket mirror to improve visibility.

LOVE my FJ! had it nearly 10 years and I could get 80% of my money back now if I had taken better care of it lol. Mine gets used for it's intended purpose and it has held up wonderfully. I've put over 150k miles on it trouble free. If you're looking at getting a manual transmission the gas mileage is 18 tops and I get 14 to 16 with aggressive tread. The auto has a higher running gear ratio for higher milage but the 6 speed is more geared for off road.

One gent I spoke to won his new FJ in a contest, it's that nice vintage racing blue.
All that sucks is the rear seating and easily breakable windshield. And visibility. And fuel economy. Ahh screw it I still want one.

Also raw plastic interior fits perfectly as I'm not worried if my kids will scratch anything inside. When I'm driving it I feel comfort and cool + super practical for family, perfect combination.

I have an 07 FJ with a manual six speed. I bought it used and it's lack of must have soccer mom options is what appealed to me. If I wanted a family mobile with plenty of window space for a stickman decal family, interactive touch screens, dvd players, and other assorted nonsense, I would have bought a minivan. A buddy of mine with kids doesn't like it because "it's to hard to get my kids in and out.: Cool...your little booger eaters don't have to ride in it and my car will never had that nasty child smell rolling from the back. It is very capable in the snow and mud.
I installed a three inch coil over suspension lift with beefed up upper control arms to further its off road and unplowed, snow covered road performance. I have taken it on remote camping trips with other buddies. There is plenty of space and plenty of off road features to get you to secluded spaces in national forests and back. If you are looking for a mall cruiser, school board safari, or grocery getter, this vehicle isn't for you. If you are looking for something with genuine off road potential, an FJ Cruiser might be a good option for you.

Will it make them more or less valuable? Toyota's already released a version in Japan, and it's widely thought to be introduced here in the next year or two. What say you?

Visibility is not great, lots of blind spots, and for an off-road vehicle, particularly a rock crawler, you need to see what's ahead of you. Nearly vertical windshield means lots of rock chips. Premium fuel is recommended and real world mileage averages around 18 mpg. Not economical at all. They were discontinued for a reason, the 4Runner is equally capable off-road and more practical in terms of interior space.
