Well that sucks. I have the most stolen car, and its keyless. 2014 Civic EX-L. I never use the fob though. I just keep it in my pocket and my car senses it, then when I reach for the handle it unlocks. Then when I get out I just tap the lock button on the outside and its all good. (I think).

I may have another tip the might work. Just take the starter fuse off. My brother use to do this to me all the time when I would steal the truck. FYI it's a manual. I would do the clutch start.

Another thing I hate about new cars, there is no key.
Who was bothered so much about having a key? It is so much more secure.

The sheer number of Civics is due to reliability. I own a 92 and I see many of these 90's era cars still on the road. No Ford Tempos or Dodge Neons.

Please for the love of god if you go to a place that has valet don’t do what he just said. It is extremely frustrating when a customer says stuff like that. We don’t care about what happened before, we have control of it and if something happens to your car they will let you know and try to work with you. So either just park somewhere else or let them do their job. Most valet workers that ive worked with aren’t the brightest people in the bunch. They just want their pay check and for the customer to leave a tip.

Hey Scotty. My 2011 Hyundai Veracruz uses keyless Fob. A remote keyless system.

The computer can only be programmed to two remotes. A third one cannot be programmed. So good luck to anyone trying to steal the signal and programming another remote.

The Koreans are still far ahead of the Japanese. By the way, the odometer just passed 200k miles. All have been trouble free save for a couple of accidents and a battery change along with a single brake change. The only issue has been the relatively high cost of tire replacement.

While it would be nice to have a third fob, there is still a lot of peace of mind knowing that not even a dealership can program a third fob.

This works for some cars. But for some makes and models, you cannot get the software to program the keys unless you show current registration, Valid drivers license and insurance among other things. At least with BMWs and Mercedes, Audi, Porsches or German Cars....others its possible someone can take it without towing. German gotta tow it....but most german cars come witha hidden tracking system.....making it not worth while to steal a german car....theyll just find ya....

6:28 not quite true. wireless transponders whether they be old school remote lock/unlock/trunk/emergency or a full keyless fob that starts your car are both using encryption and rolling codes to prevent a skilled thief from repeating the signal using specialized computer hardware and software. They may be able to do an attack to take limited control of your vehicle but without having the car in the shop or having physical access to the fob it's nigh impossible for most cars wireless fobs to be taken over just purely by having an attacker listening in on the radio link between your fob and car.

Somewhat pricey things like refurbished gas tanks, replaced gas and brake lines can spare thousands of dollars for the thief or he can sell them.
