Scotty Kilmer vtech engine with vvt very reliable only problem I ever heard is vtech solenoid goes out after 100k your second issue is turbo? Mercedes 300d one of the world's most reliable car, and for direct injection I have no idea

@woodyfive0 That's how smart they are! Don't know how to properly change oil in a 2.7L eco boost engine.

Does scotty hate literally everything that isnt an old Toyota/ Lexus. 4 cylinder Silverado, horrible. Mercedes, junk. Any German car, money pit. New Toyota, too expensive. '94 Celica, best thing to ever happen to the universe. Ps, the system he described for "VVT" was actually "VVL". Variable Valve Timing is changing when the valves open not how long or far.

I am honestly not impressed with EcoBoost. It's too new. Too complex. I doubt they can last 150,000 without major problems. 2 turbos? There's $3,000 to replace them. But, there's issues with 5.0L V8 too.

I sware you are against anything that isnt a Toyota or natural aspiration 4 cly you hate on Chevy turbo tech now Ford and I'm a huge GM guy and I think Ford has killed it with the 2.7 and the 3.5

I agree- The 2.7 is a really decent plant and the 3.5 is a hot rod. Anybody who takes a close look at Ford understands that dollar for dollar, Ford has a number of decent offerings-

I usually like the material Scotty puts out but I disagree with this one. Being a Ford technician I've worked on so many Ecoboost engines as pretty much most every ford car or truck comes with them as an option they run and work just fine seen plenty with 100,000 plus no issues you can't assume there will be a problem with just some one saying I don't like the way it was built. The 3.5 ecoboost was used in Baja race and various torture test and proved its self. If you want any car to be reliable and continue to provide for you it's simple keep up with maintenance and the software updates are today's technology as ford releases updates to make sure your vehicles have the latest technology

2011 F-150 with EcoBoost 102k miles. NO problems, still running strong. Gas mileage isn't as great as they lead you to believe if you do a lot of in-town or stop & go driving. Gets good mileage when highway cruising.

Yes, Ford hasn’t had the best track record for reliable engines in the past 2 decades, but many people have said that they have had little to no problems with their ecoboosts so far.

Different quality too Commercial grade engines are built out of tougher materials like Cast Iron and Forged Steel...etc.
Specially the tier 7 and 8 engines for tractors, those are built to be durable and last a very long time to like a million miles.
Car engines like the EcoBoost are made largely out of Aluminum and plastic.
On top of that these are much more mass produced which leaves larger room for factory errors and non commercial vehicles have much stricter requirements so there is s lot extra junk tacked in their get the good fuel economy and emission.
