Teslas have always been more expensive. Doug doesn't even discuss operating costs.
By now, we should be aware of the Trump effect: the more people talk about you, positive or negative, the more it will have staying power, because that's how it is in crazy America. Besides, it will appeal to the non-pickup truck crowd.

you are forgetting who is buying the cybertruck, it is just not the avg. truckers. cybertruck is invading other consumers who never thought they were going to buy a "truck" this product launch is changing the "truck" market.

Statistically speaking almost no one uses trucks for anything but driving.

I honestly thought it was a fake when I saw it for the first time. It doesn't look like a truck, it looks more like a transformer that got stuck in an awkward position.

Doug try doing an apples to apples comparison instead of rigging your comparison. First of all the Cybertruck is a 6 passenger, 6.5ft bed truck and you seem to want to compare it to a base standard cab Silverado. Makes no sense. Also other people that actually compare it to equivalent trucks have found you will save over $18,000 over 5 years of ownership. You also forgot to talk about how much cheaper it is to charge an electric truck over gas/diesel and there is practically no maintenance costs with electric. What a joke of a comparison Doug!

It’s not a truck at all... It’s a recreational vehicle with a bed, like a Honda Ridgeline. It can’t even do the most simple tasks that you would expect of a truck.

The bed is nearly inaccessible from every angle except the very back, making it extremely inconvenient to easily reach in and grab things in the bed. You’d have to climb into your bed to access any tool box you may have back there. You can’t haul a fifth wheel trailer because of the bed design, it just won’t fit. And I’m sure there are batteries right under the bed so you wouldn’t even be able to install a fifth wheel hitch anyway. It wouldn’t be very cost effective to add any sort of utility bed or flat bed either given its unibody construction, it would also probably reduce the trucks strength since it doesn’t have an actual frame underneath and is relying solely on the body for its structural rigidity... What’s the point of having such a huge towing capacity if you can’t tow the massive trailers and equipment that actually weigh that much because you don’t have the right hitch or bed?? Mind boggling... Elon knew who he was targeting with this vehicle, and it wasn’t actual truck buyers I promise you.

The windows being durable is definitely a benefit, I recently saw a Facebook post where someone had a deer that was sliced in half by a semi fly through their windshield and hit them in the face.
I know that's a extremely rare occurence but when you consider the amount of road debris/animals that hit cars every year it makes those windows look alot more important.

I actually like it, my opinion of course. I looked at a 2019 ram loaded truck and the sticker was 70k so price is in the right range I believe. You can see thousands of Ford F150’s, Ram 1500’s, and Chevy/GM trucks on the road....they all look alike to me. But there is only one Mad Max looking truck (Tesla) lol

I don't get these people attacking Doug, he's just giving his opinion on what he knows about the CyberTruck NOW. Leave Doug Alone!
Criticizing him for his OPINION on a truck that's not even in production seems kind of hypocritical.
What makes anyone else the Cybertruck expert? What makes them able to criticize Doug for something they know just as little as he does.
He's going off the specs as they are today. Which could change or not. So his OPINION might change in 2 years after it's released.

If the top-spec model cybertruck which is supposed to get 500 miles to a charge can give me a least 300 miles pullying a 7500lbs trailer before needing to charge, then I think it's a deal! Who the hell wants to drive 3 and 1/2 to 4 and 1/2 hours Non-Stop? What a lot of people are not mentioning is that even diesel / gasoline pickup trucks get greatly diminished range when towing at their top ends. The only difference is the interstates were designed with gas stations to allow quick refueling. It's not uncommon to see a GMC Sierra, a Ford F-150, or a tundra who's miles per gallons are usually in the teens to low 20s, drop into single digits when towing heavy loads long distance, so if you're buying the top-spec model and plan on Towing and 8500 lb travel trailer on a 400 Mile Road Trip, just let tesla route planner guide you to a charging station every 250miles. I doubt you would regret your purchase! I think Doug has been paid off by OPEC!

The premium trim packages being offered, combined with some insane aftermarket options (big shiny wheels, lift kits etc) , in my opinion, transform the ol' pick-em-up-truck into a luxury vehicle. Many of which will not see a spec of dirt, haul more than a chest of drawers or tow more than a jet ski. This is the market that Cybertruck will attract.

He went wrong when he started comparing the Cybertruck to heavy duty trucks like the Silverado 2500HD. He said it himself, the average LIGHT truck on a lost cost $50,000. That's what a mid-level Tesla Cybertruck costs and they're already equipped with most options. It is stupid to company a heavy duty truck to a light truck because of base-price differences considering two things: 1. The base-model Chevy has literally no options. As he stated, they're usually around $50,000 so pricing isn't that similar and a Tesla is a high-end, luxury car. 2. Comparing two models from different brands is one thing but I have always loathed when someone tries to compare a BMW X5 to a Chevy Suburban. Does NOT compute. This is stupid and he missed the mark and I don't even like the Cybertruck.

Also, if you are going to compare value you would need to remove $4-7k on fuel savings over the ownership life of the truck.
I’ve seen assessments done by others that nearly all showed at worst, the same price. At best, a significant savings with the cybertruck.

Interestingly, I recently sold a Ford F250 (2003), and I've really been missing having a truck. I was planning to eventually get a model S for a daily driver (trucks really aren't great fun to park in the NorthEast), but I think I'll wait and get the cybertruck, which is a bit of both. I DO very much care about how much it can tow, but realistically, I only need about 100-150 miles of range at any given time, so this works out. Yes, I ordered the tri-motor.

Also, to be honest, a well appointed light duty pickup (think Lariat trim) can EASILY run into the $50k range.
