Usually I really like your videos, Scotty, but I have to disagree with you on this one. Over the course of 10 years I bought 4 cars from Enterprise. 4 minivans and a Chevy HHR. I compared prices of like models from various sources in my market area and they were very well priced. Enterprise also gave me good value for my trades and moved a little on that value while they wouldn't budge on the price of their vehicle. Had no problems with any of the vehicles.

When I arrived at *Enterprise* to pickup my compact, I was told that I would be driven to pick it up. We picked up the car at a local body shop where they just finished repairing it. The car shook violently at 65 mph.

I guess that’s why we up in Canada can’t buy rentals Direct from the rental companies they have to be sold to an auction house!. Just saying.

I'd buy from Hertz. They cater more to the business than leisure crowd since they are most expensive rentals than the others. The key though is to look for a low mileage, more newer, car. Like as of this writing, I'd target nothing less than a 2018 model with less than 35k miles on it. Sometimes you can find a current model year with something like in the 20k-30k range, those are top picks as that mileage is going to be mostly from long interstate driving, which is very non-intensive for a car. Steer clear of Enterprise as those tend to be heavily work cars as they mostly cater to urban driving for insurance/car repair loaner vehicles.

Bought a 06 altima back in 06. It was a rental from enterprise. 10 years 100k miles later I only needed a motor mount and compressor. Best damn car I ever had, my niece drives it now and it's still going strong. I guess I just got lucky.

I used to work for Enterprise and the customers tortured the vehicles! Our store got a new 6 cylinder yellow Camaro, by 3,000 miles the transmission slipped and the engine had a miss in it. We only had 40 vehicles at any given time so the pickup trucks and vans were the last to be rented usually. If the last person in the door needed a vehicle and all we had is a new full size 4x4 Silverado, that's what they got. When it was returned the customer usually went off road. Any top of the line car with "paddle shifters" was driven like a Ferrari. One day it snowed and a guy wants to rent his wife a Jeep to be safe. The guy behind the counter rented her a 2wd model. "I gotta make my quota and I don't care!" The big boss told me Enterprise is the largest of all the car rental companies so they get all the luxury cars at base model prices. When dealers are selling "Program Cars" they always say they are demo's or off lease. Most are off lease from a rental car company. In my 20's I used to hammer rented Lincoln Town Cars; I still have pictures of driving in the waves on Daytona Beach until the car started to float. I got a brand new car with 300 miles on it and a few days later at 800 miles it was barely running and the transmission slipped. I took it back to the airport and told the guy it was POS and he gave me another brand new one! 3 new Lincolns in 10 days; all of them tortured and treated like a rental. Good Luck to the new owners; you don't want to buy a former rental because one of my friends or I drove it.

Actually bought a used Hertz 2016 Ford Focus SE two years ago, no issues except factory recall on (fuel gauge pump?, which my local Ford dealership took care of free of charge thanks to warranty). No issues other than Ford's faulty sedan trans. Once you learn it you can avoid the faulty shifting, for sure.

I bought a Used 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse from Enterprise rental cars at 12,000 miles. I drove it for 10+ years to 124,000 miles and never had any major problems. I got lucky, but I did take really good care of her just like Scotty would! Still, I've no doubt that the risk with buying a used rental is higher.

I worked for Enterprise for the worst 11 months of my life before I quit. Their branches are evaluated on “occupancy rate” which is the percentage of their assigned fleet that is rented out. Therefore a car in for service hurts them. So what is their incentive to regularly maintain them if they need to rent them. NEVER BUY A RENTAL CAR!!!

They don't need to check the car carefully when you bring it back since they've got your plastic card number and once you're home they can take anything they like and what are you going to do about it.

I rented from Enterprise. The 2nd day o got warning to service the oil. It would have been the 1st oil change for the car. I called them n said do u want me to exchange it so u can change the oil.
They said dont worry about it.
I said ok, i ended up having the car for 5weeks bc my car was in the shop getting fixed. I put about 10,000 miles on it with that service light on.

I sold cars for hertz for three years. The only car I had a major customer issue on was a 2012 Toyota Corolla (Scottie’s favorite) it had a major braking system problem and Toyota was no help. Passed warranty date and mileage they said. We bought the car back and sent it to auction. We gave the customer another car, I think it was a Mazda!

Hertz car sales have the lowest prices for any car (atleast in NYC area). And they don't charge any dealership fees, they usually range between 1000$ to 4000$. And must of them are certified pre-owned. I don't get that any where else.

I was in a hurry, I needed a car to get to work the next day so I bought a new used 2011 Toyota Camry rental car with Low mileage give or take 30,000. Great shape we always kept up on the maintenance, L O F, belts one-battery and tires through out eight years we have now almost 200,000 Miles on it...great car!
However was very leery about buying a rental.
If it wasn’t a Toyota I’d be kind of Leery. It’s a shame that American cars just aren’t what they used to be.

That means those cars are rushed through the manufacturing process. (Rental=junk).
