@Kean Tran your engine will make a knock or tick sounds i should day. It'll use slightly more gas with a lower octane as the computer compensates. "Worse gas mileage" And you'll have more carbon build up in the engine over time. Also a loss of hp. Just depends how long you want to keep the car. If it's a beater car, no problem go for it. Lol Just a personal experience i had doing that. Hope that helps.

Scotty Kilmer HMV oil has a seal swell additive and that's it. I used to make it for a major oil company. It's effective but only need to use it once. Otherwise you keep dosing your deal with something that makes them swell.

Are there any negative effects on a car if you put in regular gas instead of the suggested premium gas?

I disagree on extended warranties. I used to work for Harley and toyota and ford. An extended warranty with tire coverage really does pay for iutself. I have seen them cover 5000 dollar jobs and in average most people do get their money out of them but you need to get one from a reputable company.
Cna, Empire, Fidelity pinacle and mastercraft are the best Most of the offbrand though I wouldn't trust.
The four I listed are generally the ones sold by the dealerships as OEM extended warranties.

One of the first things I tell the salesman when buying a new car is, I don't buy extended warranties, paint protection, etc, EVER! I just want the car for the price, interest, payments we agreed to.

I have to disagree on the extended warranty. Most are probably garbage, but I bought a used 2008 BMW 328XI from a Toyota dealership with 55k. I knew BMW repairs can get expensive and opted to by a 50k mile warranty for $2k. I also talked them down in price because the car was a manual transmission and I was probably the only person looking at it. I never had a claim denied, my mechanic even replaced a few things that hadn't failed but were close. I ended up saving over 5k in repairs during the time. They even replaced things like struts at nearly 100k miles that I would consider a wear item.

I got a good 1993 grand marquies at a used car lot. Yes it did need shocks plugs and wires and a battery. But I knew that when I bought it. And i changed out all the fluids. But agin i knew all this when i bought this car. All the other cars i looked at at every used car lot where junk. I just happend to come across this car . Well needless to say about 2 years later the used car salesman was arrested and charged. But my was the exception. But i do agree with scotty i have never found a good used car sence that one i found that day. All used cars that i look at all have had the odometer turned back. And there eather flood damaged or peiced back toghter after a wreck. So now I only buy cars that I absolutely know all the history on. Regardless of the milage. And I always have a few thousand set aside for repairs . Cause I allready know used cars always need things like a trans rebuild or a timing chain and waterpump replacement.

No cold air at idle, everything working as expected, freon level good. I had a car with ac that did the same thing. But everything was in great working order. Still no cool air at idle. Freeway speeds cooled fine. Look for Low Air flow through the condenser. The condenser was mounted about a half inch in front of the radiator. You couldn't see between them from bottom or top without removing the radiator brackets and spreading them apart. So I did and I'm glad I did. I found that half an inch gap was plugged completely with dog hair? Yep it looked like a wool coat. After cleaning it out with a small bristle brush and a lot of duck tape on a stick, I finally got air flowing good and the problem was solved. Ps. That explained why the car always ran towards the hot end of the temp gauge but still never overheated. All was fine after that. It even had more pep. Good luck. Jpol.

What is youre min old year for an older car because in my head my protege 5 2002 is an old car. So is a cheville or duster. Are we talking old like mustang 5.0 litre early late 90s or musclé America back when cars were made out of metal and you could actually wrap them around things.

                                                                            • michael gill

Look boss in this infinity........... I haven’t actually figured out this trick yet maybe you can help Scotty. It’s a basic lease take over for the remainder of the year........... I know it sounds too good so what would be the trick.

                                                                                • Russell Stephan

Last couple of cars I purchased were actually from buy-here-pay-here lots.

I hit sole-proprietor places and talk with the owner. I show him a big roll of cash and say, "I'm looking for x, y, and z. Bring it back from the auction house and I'll look it over. Don't attempt to pull one over on me, I know cars. I Don't mind you making a couple of hundred bucks for your troubles. But, I know cars."

The couple of hundred bucks is worth it to save the effort of fishing Craigslist for hours.

It also helps that I'm not really brand or model specific -- usually two-door, standard transmission, no power crap (locks, windows, seat adjust, etc.), slight cosmetic damage acceptable and preferred.

I'm 13 years into the last one I bought. I've put *maybe* two grand into it since then (me doing all the work) -- tires, front rotors, hubs, complete hydraulic brake line replacement, and other odds and ends.

Only a very select few drive as inexpensively as I do.

We took the car back to Lexus and it was covered, which is an expensive repair not for the part as you know, but the labor involved. The cost to us, one hundred dollars.
