  • We challenged chefs of three different levels - an amateur, a home cook and a professional chef - to make their versions of lasagna. And then we brought in a food scientist to review their work. Which Lasagna was the best?

                                  As much as i love these "4 Levels of.."-videos i always miss a part at the end where the chefs try the dishes of the other chefs. I'm curious to see what their comment on the other recipes would be.

                                        See, I'm somwhere in between the level one Baker and the level two Baker. My family always uses the non boiling noodles, so that's what I grew up with. We also use alot of the premade stuff, like shredded cheese and stuff, mainly because none of us really have the time for actully making everything by scratch. The only thing that usally gets made completly by scratch, mainly because I say so, is the sauce, including all the seasoning that end up going in. I despise the flavor of the premade sauce. the few times we have had premade sauce, was when my parents were being lazy, and I ended up going in there and adding ALOT more seasoning to that sauce, simply because I didnt want to taste the original flavor of the premade sauce, because I did not like it. (Yes, I did taste it before hand, just to make sure of the flavor.) that being said, I do actully want to try the recipe for the professional chef. That looked yummy.

                                          Level 1: Good Basic Lasagna
                                          Level 2: Good Healthier Lasagna
                                          Level 3: Good Meaty Lasagna
                                          Level 4: I talk. Sometimes it's helpful and *no* I have no lasagna for you :( .

                                                  Lasagna is my favorite dish and the Level 1 chef gave me constant anxiety. My advice?
                                                  1. Season your meat and sauce every step of the way and try it to make sure it's flavorful.
                                                  2. Make an actual bechamel (nutmeg included) and not that American ricotta nonsense.
                                                  3. Burn down those pre-cooked abominations and use dry pasta.
                                                  4. Make an actual lasagna instead of a basil salad.


                                                  Not trying to school anyone (kinda), but I honestly would never try his version. I'd looooove to try #3. The second one was just way too spicy for me (also that ricotta crap, though her's looked better).

                                                                                      Onestly, this ain’t lasagna, the sauce of all the chefs it’s pretty much wrong, I don’t know how they call it lasagna. The “cheese” ain’t cheese it’s béchamel, as the third one said. Only the third one gets the soul of the lasagna, it doesn’t resemble my grandma but it’s good.
