If you're tired of big corporations taking advantage of every day workers and taxpayers, do something about it, talk about it, because one of the reasons corporations get away with this kind of stuff is because people do or say nothing about it anymore!

pretty much thats the problem with everything...people, talk about stuff but they never do the hard band together...the elite want people to argue among themselves while they steal all the money.

It's the tortoise and the hare story to a tee. The US foolishly rested on their laurels and were arrogant after the war while the Japanese and Germans watched and learned. Here in Canada, 2500 people are losing their jobs in Oshawa even after our government GAVE THEM BILLIONS in tax breaks, subsidies, etc. over a decade. Makes me wonder how many companies out there would fire ALL of their employees if it would increase profits. The working class is too stunned and phased by consumerism to actually do anything about it : alcohol, tobacco, legal weed, junk food, cheap dollarstore crap, Netflix, facebook, twitter, video games, sports industry, and of course cars !

GM has always been the crookedest of the big American auto manufacturers. Short sighted from the mid 70s on. But there are still plenty of low IQ die hards that will buy this trash. Short sighted consumers & short sighted CEOs.

I work for a mechanic shop. I love seeing a GM products pull up. I refer to them as gold mines. GM products keep the shop doors open and food on my plate. Thanks GM.

It is so ironic that any capitalist corporation uses a Communist country to build their products. Would it have to do with the low wages and zero worker rights the Chinese have in their totalitarian government? China is the closest thing to work conditions the United States had 100 years ago. Sickening.

My 2009 Grand Marquis stopped blowing cold, I brought it to the dealer, and they said the blend door was the problem.
The part was switched from metal gears to plastic, to save money. Now to get to it, they had to pull half the dash.
Parts on the bill $30.00 and labor, $950.00!
Why would you put a plastic piece of junk buried that deep in the dash board?
A gimme to the dealers I guess.
By the way, small local shops were quoting almost the same price, so it was a no brainer to take it to the dealer.

The labor unions also contribute to the failure of the auto industry. Overpaid, overtime abuses, poor performance due to lazy workers, ever increasing benefits. I wonder why they prefer to make cars in China....btw, your very expensive iphone that you make comments on is made in China. Thank you, NAFTA. Thank you, unions.

Thank you 2010 Impala was my last Chevy purchase. If the government had stayed out of it then they would have been forced to build quality and affordable cars to compete or go out of business. If the unions had stayed out then the employees would have been forced to do a good job or get fired. The government and unions created the perfect storm of incompetence. How can the same model cars imported be more reliable than it's American twin?

Only politicians that don't comprehend economics believe that a dying car company will kill jobs in the long run. Do you know how many people would KILL to bail out GM in the private sector? The good thing about private-sector bailout loans is that the company using the loan has to make better products, because if they don't... THEY DEFAULT AND DIE. Not only do you have to pay for the loan amount, but you have to pay for INTEREST as well, which incentivises more efficient business, AND it increases jobs in the finance industry, AND you're not drawing from the bottomless pit of Big Government's $21T debt. Assuming the interest rate properly reflects GM's credit rating, what is the problem with letting an investment bank like Goldman Sachs lending money to bail them out?

It was literally the best car he ever owned, it was reliable, comfortable and even got decent fuel mileage. It had plastichrome flashing all over the interior that eventually started to peel away but the car itself held up just fine.

During the great depression Buick saved GM also. Buick quality and value was top notch (preferred over Cadillac). =Buick always brought in the $$$ when times were difficult. So Historically it makes sense that Chinese also see Buick as a quality and value leader. And Buick was importing a few of the Chinese made models to the US until the tariffs (25%) were implemented.
