Don't buy harbor freight brand duct tape or electrical tape. I'm pretty sure you could spit on something and it'd hold better.

I know a thing or two about drill bits. What you want to look for is HHS (High Speed Steel) or CO (Cobalt) stamped on the side of the drill. If you find a cheap set at Harbor they should work fine. Stay away from HIGH CARBON STEEL drills. If you need a precise sized hole, that is what precision reamers are for. Again if you stay away from High Carbon Steel, and find a set of drills or taps at Harbor made from HHS or CO, you just found a great value and I would snap them up.

Shop vacs are great, been running the same one for 20 years, jacks however I disagree, most of those cheap harbor freight jacks get slow leaks, walk away from the car for 20 minutes and you can see it has gotten closer to the ground!!!

Jacks, air tools, hand tools, all of those are decent from harbor freight. I use some of their hand tools and air tools at my job daily, they hold up fine.

I've bought some really great vintage, American made tools at estate sales. Some go back to the 1940's when tools were built to last forever.

Harbor Freight avoid most electrical tools, they are crap. china motors are weak and warranty is 90 days. But there air tools, hand tools, jacks, stands, etc are great value. The gas motors are a crap shoot i got 3 years out of a lawn mower engine, a generator head worked, i over heated it, itmelted the plastic fan no parts available.

My first socket set was a 15 piece ½" drive Craftsman, which I purchased in 1978 and cracked only one socket, it was the ¾" by removing a stuck lug nut. Nothing has ever worked they way it was suppose to work when I bought it from Harbor Freight, even the 'Plastic Bags' broke as soon as I left the store.

When the tool breaks and you loose some skin, I'm not a happy camper. I too have a list like yours as well. (Stuff "NOT" to buy at Harbor Freight) and it's over a20 year study.
