When they asked if Liverpool would win the champions league with Messi, the most simple answer is 'Yes'. Now not saying VVD isnt important for Liverpool, but as a whole that team is better than Barcelona if you stripped Messi and VVD out the picture. Liverpool would have the best attack in the world if they had Messi, and would still have Alisson who is the best goalkeeper in the world arguably.

Messi should have won it in 2012/13 (not Ribéry and definitely not Ronaldo) Ribéry had 11 goals 24 assists and yes he won the champions league but he had 1 goal and 5 assists, Ronaldo had 55 goals 12 assists in 55 games 0 trophies, Messi had 60 goals 15 assists in 50 games and a domestic double. Then explain how Luca Modric won the Ballon D'or last year. Messi put up practically the same goal and assist stats. Won the La Liga. All just like THIS year. But why did he not deserve Ballon D'or last year too. Modric wasn't even the one to carry RM. RM still had ronaldo, and even Bale, who contributed to their CL win. If we're gonna give Ballon D'or to the player with best stats, only messi and ronaldo should win them in the past 10 years.
if you look at barca and liverpool roster last year, then you can;t say Barca is deficient. Their players just didnt play to their full potential. Meanwhile, VVD transformed Liverpool entire defence and lifted the whole team's performance. He made Joe Gomez, Matip, Loven into world class defender. His solid defence gave platform to the workman midfield with the like of Hendo, Gini, Milner to play so well.

Agreed. He carried them both in LaLiga(top scorer) and UCL(top scorer. You can't judge him by just 90 min of 2nd leg, not to mention how good he was in the 1st leg. Indeed. Barca had Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol (World and European Champions with Spain). We see that Barcelona haven't won the CL again since the days of Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol. I don't know why some people seem to insist only Messi turned Barcelona into such a great team.
Liverpool hadn't reached a CL final for 12 years. 4 months after Van Dijk joined, they did. Then they won it the following year.
