because people like me are gonna use any kind of button since there poor and just want there stuff too work again
and you told them to hook inline with the starter even though you did not explicitly tell them to use the main power lead someone is bound to get hurt realy bad if you dont correct this error. thanks scotty! i love you're vids

that button better be going to the starter relay and not directly to the starter motor even if the button claims it can handle 200amps

I did this on my motorcycle. Starter button no go ,had to kick start. I bought a remote starter switch for bumping a motor from under the hood while working on it. Wired to starter and mounted it under gas tank. It was probably a rectifier, but this worked too... Salesman at NAPA when I told him what I was doing when I bought the remote switch thought for a second and said "that will work!" and seemed a little impressed. First time I ever impressed one of those dudes!

Watching in the U.K. and I love your videos scotty , but you should really show people how to solder correctly as doing it the way you did will over heat the copper and reduce its current carrying capacity

hey scotty heres a trick I learned from my dad, if your going to be drilling into plastic put some tape over where you plan to drill I use painters tape and ive also used duct tape, it insures that the hole will be clean and smooth

Scotty, you desperately need a higher wattage soldering iron with a broad chisel tip for that type of work. That solder joint at 2:32 was... Not Good. :)

Scotty, I need to teach you about electrical wiring in vehicles.
First, your solder joint was cold, the solder needs to flow into the wire strands. Start heating the wire without solder until it is hot enough to have the solder flow.
Second, do not run the wires outside the rubber grommet. By having the wires between the grommet and metal body, the wire insulation can be damage and short out, and blow the fuse inline with the battery.
Third, never solder terminals onto the wires, use crimp terminals. The soldered wires can break from vibration.

Nice video tho, I added a start button on my 1978 F250 as the wiring or trans safety switch failed. I did not want to fight the Michigan rust to try and figure it out...

1- it's easier to steal the car.
2- you used a black wire and soldered to the red wire so he ended up with 2 black wires attached to the button so you have to go into the headache to figure out which one is positive and which one is negative.

If one of my boys had done something like that (in Australian slang they would have got a reef up the arse) a good kick up the butt. If the ignition switch was faulty on the starter circuit, you pick up an ignition feed from the switch and run the power from your push button to a relay. A solenoid when hot can draw over twenty five amps on pull in on the pull in coil then drop to about ten amps on hold in. I know your a mechanic but in Australia we do a four year Technical Collage and on the job training ( one day a week at technical college and for days on the tools). As far as the alarm went they would have probably cut the starter wire near the ignition switch, and knowing alarm fitters would have probably used "scotch locks", causing voltage drop.

                                                                      • amonamath0
